First Sight
This was a poem that I wrote for my college's poetry writing seminar, where the task was to write a Hermit Crab poem, a poem that "borrows" from another piece of literature and is stylized much like a "quiz."
This poem I wrote I titled "First Sight," and I modeled it after the Twilight saga, about the moment when Bella first lays eyes on Edward.
First Sight
I watched him
A. I noticed his russet hair and snow skin
B. He sat there, not drinking or eating anything
C. He had his four siblings for company
D. They were Greek deities, carved from pure ice
When I sat beside him an hour later
A. His eyes were midnight
B. His stone body recoiled in repugnance
C. I didn't understand what I'd done
D. I couldn't comprehend the hatred as his onyx stared into my brown
Yet
A. His stone body etched into fury
B. And I was rapt by every part of him
C. He was so hateful, so revolted by me
D. But he was more stunning than I ever thought possible
